Zu sehr viel Aufregung und Unruhe führte gestern eine Äußerung von HP-CEO Mark Hurd. In einem Interview gab er bekannt, dass der Kauf von Palm nicht stattfand um in den Smartphone-Markt einzusteigen. Eieiei, als dies publik wurde, begannen die wildesten Spekulationen in der webOS-Community. Es war also nur eine Frage der Zeit, wann Mark Hurd dies richtigstellen würde. Dies tat er dann auch einen Tag später, in dem er betonte, dass er webOS eher als Basis sehe für diverse Endgeräte. Zum Beispiel Smartphones. Tablets. Drucker. Und bestimmt auch Toaster.

When we look at the market, we see an array of interconnected devices, including tablets, printers, and of course, smartphones. We believe webOS can become the backbone for many of HP’s small form factor devices, and we expect to expand webOS’s footprint beyond just the smartphone market, all while leveraging our financial strength, scale, and global reach to grow in smartphones.
Ich bin schon gespannt auf das erste webOS-Gerät von HP – hoffentlich ist es ein Smartphone!
